As Kos noted back on 02.06.2005, Jonah Goldberg thinks he can't put his beliefs into action and actually join the military and serve in Iraq. His excuse? He's 35 and has kids to support.
Sorry Jonah, that's not an excuse.
Meet Johnnie Chennault, age 29 and father of 11 kids, from Springfield, TN. He signed up to serve in the Navy Reserve 2 years ago, and later this month he's going to Iraq. Chennault believes he should serve, and he's putting his beliefs into action.
If anyone should be given a pass not to go to Iraq it would be this guy (sweet jeebus, I can't imagine having 3 kids much less 11! Mama must be worn out already...), this guy should be. While I don't think this war is worth his trouble, at least he's willing to serve; since he's in the Seabees he's definitely going to be on the ground just like my brother (a Seabee since 1980) is now.
So Jonah: quit making excuses, get your ass down to the recruiter's office and get your war on! Let's draft all young Republicans and GOP pundits first...
